  39. Set the channel to 10 (Prog 0).  Then, a note on the scale will 
  40. correspond to a particular percussive instrument.  Have fun.

  50. hey all, I've had it with patch maker lite.  I was ticked when I couldn't
  51. put stereo wavs in it, and now I'm more ticked that it is a war zone of
  52. errors under win95.  Now before u go blaming it on poor Win95, realize
  53. the quality of pmaker lite...snicker.  Seriously, I need a good patch
  54. making program which allows stereo 16-bit samples and is easy to use, but
  55. powerful.  Thanks for any help.

  69. No Sony CD audio connector is not picky and in fact Sony cable uses only
  70. one of the two GND pins too! And disabling CD interface in MAX does not
  71. affect CD audio interface... you can naturally disable CD interface of the
  72. MAX and use interface card that came with your CD-ROM drive and still
  73. connect audio from CD-ROM drive to MAX.

  100. I dunno if it's just me, but I downloaded the "BRUTAL: Paws of Fury" 
  101. demo.  It uses the HMI Drivers.  When I run it, the music sounds 
  102. fine, but the digital FX are "echoy", "messy", "not coherent" almost 
  103. as if the voices are playing the wrong section of DRAM.

  105. I also have the exact same problem with other programs that use HMI.  
  106. (although UAKM, SSF2T and one or two others work just fine).  I tried 
  107. setting my DMA to 1, and/or 7/5 IRQ's.  To no avail.

  131. Your problem may be that ultrinit allows for enabling and disabling of
  132. the CD-in as a command line switch, you need to make sure you enable
  133. it with ultrinit (just like -ej and -dj disable the joystick port, 
  134. I am not sure of the switch for the CD-in, but look in your manual).
  135. It is disabled by default.  I had the same problem when I first got
  136. my Max.

  146.     The last few days I saw some postings talking about Teac CD55A and GUS MAX
  147. and I will share my experience too here. I bought Teac CD55A last month and
  148. I have no problem in connecting with the my GUS MAX. What I did was connect
  149. the Teac CD Drive with the panasonic interface and don't forget to disable
  150. jumper3 (jp3), enable jumper6 (jp6) and remove the pin cap from jumper
  151. 10,11, and 12.
  152.     Connect the audio cable 4pin which comes with the Teac CD to the
  153. mitsumi, but it should be connected the other way around since the ground
  154. cable is inversion compared to panasonic. Install the disk that come with
  155. the drive and get the old or latest driver from the Teac BBS support or you
  156. supplier the driver is Teac_cda.sys. Replace the Teac_cda.sys which has been
  157. installed by the disk with the old or latest driver and set your
  158. autoexec.bat especially for the line /T:2 (type 2 CD drive instead of 0 or
  159. 1). The teac driver which come with the installation disk is buggy and it
  160. won't load your CD Drive properly.
  161.     By doing all these My Teac CD Drive is running fine with my GUS MAX
  162. and I could get transfer rate around 596k/s. I hope this will help.

  194. Someone asked about OPTi chipsets and 16-bit DMA a few days ago. So 
  195. here's my own experiences about OPTi chipsets: I have two motherboards 
  196. with OPTi chipsets. Older one has 495SLC and it had some problems with 
  197. 16-bit DMA... I got 2 of the 3 channels to work in DOS but only 1 of the 
  198. 3 in Windows. Newer board has 895 and it works like a dream... all 16-bit 
  199. DMA channels work both in DOS & Windows and it is pretty fast chipset 
  200. too. So I'd say that avoid older OPTi chipsets (<- 93) but go for newer 
  201. ones.
